Butterfield

Nestled in the rolling landscape of Herston, Butterfield is more than just a house—it’s a testament to enduring design and a connection to family heritage. For our clients, deeply rooted in the area with close family ties, this home is a reflection of their upbringing in the area and a commitment to continuing traditions.

Butterfield seamlessly integrates the character of the existing light weight home with the sturdy elegance of concrete and brickwork, creating a structure that stands gracefully, inviting generations to call it home.  Herbert is seated in a landscape that steps down the site and cascades from above, establishing the landscape as a central theme in the homes planning.

The design unfolds as a balanced tribute to the cottage’s street presence, extending into contemporary spaces at the rear. The courtyard layout provides privacy to neighbouring homes, crafting a central space for intimate gatherings with family and friends. Encouraging gathering in its landscape and on its edges, the courtyard is a haven for shared moments with the rest of the home ensuring balance with pockets of private retreat.

Butterfield is more than a structure; it’s a setting for continued traditions and fostering new connections. With its practical design and enduring materials, it stands as a home where family traditions can be upheld and new memories forged.
